We are in the beginning stages of introducing and implementing Catechesis of the Good Shepherd to our parish and children’s ministry.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori based approach to the religious formation of children, rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the church, and respect for the child’s rich relationship with God.
Central to CGS is the atrium, a room containing beautiful materials that focus the child’s attention on key scripture passages or liturgical moments. Because the children learn by using their hands, working with the materials allows them to enter more deeply into meditation, nurturing their relationship with God.
Below is a short video about the power of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
We know it takes “a village to raise a child” and central to the village is our Church and parish.
